Slow Factory + ANERA Present

We Are Home

An homage to the refugee tradition of keeping one’s house key on a necklace in hopes of returning home one day. White Gold. Made in Lebanon.

Introducing Slow Factory Jewelry

In an effort to infuse social responsibility with empathy and respond to the ongoing conflicts in the Middle East, Slow Factory has created the “WE ARE HOME” Fund to support ANERA’s education initiative in Lebanon, providing vocational training for refugees so they can get jobs in their adopted home.

“The world headlines parade millions of refugees as faceless, nameless people in need of shelter… But here they have a face.” - ANERA

“Manufactured in Beirut, these white gold keys are fashioned out of a mold of my family’s own house key. Proceeds from sales will provide desperately needed job skills training for refugees in Lebanon.” — Founder Céline Semaan Vernon

SS2016 Silk Scarf Collection

The Earth is Home to us All

This special collection was inspired by the overview effect - the mental shift that happens to astronauts when in space, that raises awareness that we are all passengers on Earth. Founder and designer, Celine Semaan Vernon created this collection with the intention of shining the light on one of the worst humanitarian disasters of our time: the worst refugee crisis since WWII.

“It suddenly struck me that that tiny pea, pretty and blue, was the Earth. I put up my thumb and shut one eye, and my thumb blotted out the planet Earth. I didn’t feel like a giant. I felt very, very small.” - Neil Armstrong

“When we look down at the earth from space, we see this amazing, indescribably beautiful planet. It looks like a living, breathing organism. But it also, at the same time, looks extremely fragile … Anybody else who’s ever gone to space says the same thing because it really is striking and it’s really sobering to see this paper-thin layer and to realize that that little paper-thin layer is all that protects every living thing on Earth from death, basically. From the harshness of space.” - Shuttle/ISS astronaut Ron Garan

Each Slow Factory collection has a mission of social good. For the Spring/Summer 2016 collection, our fashion activism studio is partnering with ANERA to donate 10% of proceeds to support the humanitarian crisis and to help refugees with their Education initiative. Through this partnership, we hope we are able to boost the resilience of refugees in Lebanon. Acknowledging their struggle, and helping them protect their dignity — which is all many of them have left — will hopefully help them rise up and overcome. We are all in this together.
